What Does Your Service Cost? Autoadvisor's fee depends on the level of information and service you select. It can range from $300 to just over $400 per customer. The price is the same no matter what the cost of the car.

They will also work out the price for any of the additional services that the customer might want-extended warranty, credit life, etc.

Can You Deliver Any Car at or Below Invoice? Autoadvisor claims that they can locate any make of car in the U.S. with the options you designate-assuming that the options are offered by the manufacturer-and have it sent to a local dealer for delivery within an agreed-upon time deadline and at the lowest price.

What Guarantees Do You Offer? Money back if not satisfied

What Advice Would You Offer the Consumer Shopping for a Car-Buying Service? The following are the questions that Mr. Knapp feels that someone considering his or any car-buying service should consider:

  • Many companies will provide a quote. Is there a car to go with the quote?
  • Are you a car-buying service or are you a broker or a lease company who is using leasing to disguise the fact that you are really a broker?
  • Are there automotive experts at your service who can answer your questions about the car itself?
  • What percent of your clients buy their vehicles below dealer's cost?
  • Does your company make more money if I buy a more expensive car?
  • What is your price guarantee?
  • Can I lease my car through you? That is, can you help me get a good lease and shop it to various lease companies to assure that I get the best deal?
  • Where do I take delivery of my car?
  • If I purchase through you, are my car and my purchase protected by my state's lemon laws?
  • Will the car be titled as a new car, and will that title come from the manufacturer?
  • Do I directly receive all rebates and warranties on the car?
  • Am I obligated to buy the vehicle if, at the time of delivery, I find that it is damaged, dented, scratched, or otherwise in less than showroom condition?
  • How many years have you been in business?
  • What is the cost of your service?
  • Do you have a trade-in service and, if so, how does it work?
  • Can I go to my local dealer for free warranty service no matter where the car was purchased?
